Enable the Hide/Show Feature in Discovery Wizard


Overview

The hide/show feature in Discovery Wizard can be enabled in sections, variables, tables, rows, columns, and extensions. However, please make sure that the Excel model uploaded contains the hide variables to allow the hiding and showing of variables when enabled.


Step-by-Step Guide


Hiding a Section


First Method


  1. Follow the steps to Add Sections and Categories in Discovery Wizard.


  1. Click to select the section (here: Benefits) to be hidden and then click the eye icon. The eye icon changes to one with a slash.


  2. Click Preview UI.


  1. You can see that the selected section (Benefits) is not visible on the left pane.


  2. Click Back to Admin UI and then click the section that has been hidden. Now click the eye icon with a slash.


  3. On clicking the Preview UI, you can see that the section is now back on the left pane.

Second Method


You can also hide a section by adding a hide code reference in the model. The hide code reference works only when certain conditions are met


  1. Follow the steps to Add a Hide Variable/Code Reference in the Model.



  1. Click to open Discovery Wizard.




  1. Click the pencil icon of the section (here Benefits) you want to hide. Click either of the pencil icons.




  1. The Update Tag pop-up box appears.


  2. Click the Hide Section drop-down list.




  1. Click to select the hide code reference from the drop-down list.


  2. Click Save.




  1. Click Preview UI.



  1. As per the condition set for the hide code reference, when the value for the Price of Lemonade variable is changed to a value above 5, the hide function starts to work. Hence, the section (here Benefits) disappears from the side pane.


  2. Click other sections and you can see that all those areas where the particular condition applies also have disappeared.


  3. To unhide, click Back to Admin UI and then click the pencil icon of the section you have hidden.


  4. When the Update Tag pop-up box appears, click Do not Hide from the Hide Section drop-down list and then click Save. The hidden Section now becomes visible.


Hiding a Variable


To hide a variable you need to add a hide code reference in the model. The hide code reference works only when certain conditions are met


  1. Follow the steps to Add Variables in Discovery Wizard.


  2. Follow the steps to Add a Hide Variable/Code Reference in the Model.



  1. Click the pencil icon next to the variable (here, Quantity Sold Daily) that needs to be hidden.



  1. The Update Variable pop-up box appears. Click to select the hide code reference from the Hide Variable drop-down list.


  2. Click Save.




  1. Click Preview UI on the top navigation.



  1. As per the condition set for the hide code reference, when the value for the Price of Lemonade variable is changed to a value above 5, the hide function starts to work. Hence, the variable (here Quantity Sold Daily) disappears.


  2. To unhide, click the Hide Variable dropdown list and then select Do Not Hide.


Hiding a Table


To hide a table you need to add a hide code reference in the model. The hide code reference works only when certain conditions are met


  1. Follow the steps to Add a Table in Discovery Wizard.


  2. Follow the steps to Add a Hide Variable/Code Reference in the Model.



  1. Click the eye icon. The Show/Hide Table pop-up box appears.



  1. The Show/Hide Table pop-up box appears. Click to select the hide code reference from the Hide Table drop-down list.


  2. Click Save.




  1. Click Preview UI.



  1. Change the value of the Price of Lemonade variable to something above 5.



  1. As per the condition set for the hide code reference, when the value for the Price of Lemonade variable is changed to a value above 5, the hide function starts to work. Hence, the table disappears.


  2. To unhide, click the Hide Table dropdown list and then select Do Not Hide.


Hiding a Column


To hide a column you need to add a hide code reference in the model. The hide code reference works only when certain conditions are met


  1. Follow the steps to Add a Table in Discovery Wizard.


  2. Follow the steps to Add a Hide Variable/Code Reference in the Model.



  1. Hover the mouse on the column (here Cost of Large Lemon) to be hidden and click the pencil icon.



  1. The Table Title Setting pop-up box appears. Click to select the hide code reference from the Hide Column drop-down list.


  2. Click Update.

  1. Click Preview UI on the top navigation.


  1. Change the value of the Price of Lemonade variable to something above 5.



  1. As per the condition set for the hide code reference, when the value for the Price of Lemonade variable is changed to a value above 5, the hide function starts to work. Hence, the column (here Cost of Large Lemon) disappears.


  2. To unhide, click the Hide Column dropdown list and then select Do Not Hide.


Hiding a Row

To hide a column you need to add a hide code reference in the model. The hide code reference works only when certain conditions are met


  1. Follow the steps to Add a Table in Discovery Wizard.


  2. Follow the steps to Add a Hide Variable/Code Reference in the Model.



  1. Hover the mouse on the row (here 2nd row) to be hidden and click the pencil icon.



  1. The Edit Cell pop-up box appears. Click to select the hide code reference from the Hide Row drop-down list.


  2. Click Save.


  3. Click Preview UI on the top navigation.



  1. Change the value of the Price of Lemonade variable to something above 5.



  1. As per the condition set for the hide code reference, when the value for the Price of Lemonade variable is changed to a value above 5, the hide function starts to work. Hence, the row (here 2nd row) disappears.


  2. To unhide, click the Hide Row dropdown list and then select Do Not Hide.


Hiding a Chart


To hide a chart you need to add a hide code reference in the model. The hide code reference works only when certain conditions are met

  2. Follow the steps to Add a Hide Variable/Code Reference in the Model.



  1. Click the eye icon. The Show/Hide Extension pop-up box appears.



  1. Click to select the hide code reference from the Hide Extension drop-down list.


  2. Click Save.


  3. Click Preview UI on the top navigation.
